Liang Qichao's Study of the Chinese Ethnic History and Its Contribution to the Development of the Discipline

Liang Qichao started his study on the Chinese ethnic history in a time of the frontier and ethnic crises in early 20th century,intending to activate the self consciousness and patriotism of the Chinese people.Actually,his efforts led to the academic achievements in the concept of ethnicity or nationality,the root and flow of ethnicity or nationality,and ethnic relations,which has made great contributions to the establishment and development of the discipline,the Chinese ethnic history.He was the first who had proposed that the Chinese ethnic history should be a discipline.Further,he advocated that ethnic history was the core of the study on the Chinese history,and held that the Chinese nation originated from different sources and that all the ethnic groups had created the history of China.
