Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between CYBA gene C242T polymorphism and essential hypertension.Method The CYBA gene C242T polymorphism was detected in 120 patients with essential hypertension and 120 healthy control subjects by PCR-RFLP.Results The CC genotype frequency 0.68 in patients with hypertension was higher than the healthy controls 0.53(χ2=5.035,df=1,P=0.034).C allele frequency was 0.84 in patients with hypertension and 0.77 in healthy controls,which showed no significant difference between these 2 allele frequencies distribution(χ2=3.793,df=1,P=0.066).Conclusion The CYBA C242T gene polymorphism closely relates to essential hypertension.T allele may be a protective factor of hypertension.
