Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of survivin and p53 and their clinicopathologic significance in colorectal cancer in elderly patients. Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of survivin and P53 in 90 elderly patients with colorectal cancer. Results: The positive rates of survivin and P53 were 65.6%(59/90) and 57.8%(52/90) respectively. The expressions of survivin and p53 were positively correlated with the Dukes staging, serosa infiltration and lymph node metastasis of colorectal cancer(P0.05).The expression of P53 was positively correlated with the pathological feature in colorectal cancer(P0.05). Conclusion: These data show a correlation between the survivin and P53 expressions and the potential of invasion and metastasis in colorectal cancer.Survivin and P53 may be prognostic indicators in colorectal cancer in elderly patients.
