Abstract

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of Fluoxetine and Citalopram in treatment of the depressive symptom due to Alzheimer's Disease. Methods: 80 cases of patients were randomly divided into two groups, the patients of two groups were treated with Fluoxetine and Citalopram respectively;the course was 8 weeks;HAMD and TESS was adopted to assess the clinical effect and adverse reaction. Results: HAMD of Citalopram group decreased significantly after two weeks' treatment(P0.05),and HAMD of Fluoxetine group decreased significantly after four weeks' treatment(P0.05).The two groups showed the same effect after 8 weeks.Adverse reactions of two groups were lighter, the incidence of adverse reactions of Citalopram group(38.1%) was lower than Fluoxetine group(60.5%)(P0.05).Conclusion: Citalopram has quicker effect and better safety than Fluoxetine in the depressive symptom due to AD,long-term effect of two drugs was almost the same.Citalopram is worthy of wide application in treatment of depressive symptom due to AD.
