Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of citalopram in the treatment of major depressive disorder.METHODS: Using foresight and single-blind method,60 patients were assigned randomly into citalopram group and fluoxetine group.Their efficacy was evaluated by HAMA before and after 7、14、56 days, and the safety was assessed by TESS.RESULTS: The efficiency of both groups was similar after 8 weeks. But there was a significant difference between 2 groups at the second week.At the second week, the symptoms of citalopram group were obviously less than that of fluoxetine group.17 items of HAMD were higher than that of fluoxetine group. The result showed that citalopram combined with benzodiazepine partly covered variability of the efficiency of anti-depression between two groups.Citalopram was a preferable single-drug therapy for the patients with dyssomnia and anxiety.CONCLUSION: Citalopram is a very safe, effective and desirable antidepressant, with less adverse reactions and good tolerance and compliance.
