Abstract
Objective To observe the distribution characteristics of central 10° to 30° light sensitivity, and to find out a method of observing central retinal function in high myopia eyes to provide clinical basis for prophylactic treatment of retinal macular degeneration. Methods Central low vision central procedure,C08 and M2 procedures in OCTOPUS 101 perimeter, were used to qualitatively and quantitatively detect the 10° to 30° retinal light sensitivity, four quadrants light sensitivity, four quadrants absence points of visual field, average absence points of visual field in 373 eyes of high myopia, which were compared with each of 149 fellow eyes of high myopia with retinal detachment(RD),51 fellow eyes of low to moderate myopia with RD and 108 normal eyes, respectively. Results The average sensitivity of high myopia eyes was (27.60±6.26)dB,(28.51±4.95)dB in fellow eyes of high myopia with RD,(28.45±6.53)dB in fellow eyes of low to moderate myopia with RD,and (34.05±2.29)dB in normal eyes. The visual acuity of high myopia eyes was 0.57±0.39,0.62±0.39 in fellow eyes of high myopia with RD,0.87±0.25 in fellow eyes of low to moderate myopia with RD,and 1.13±0.28 in normal eyes. There was no significant difference of visual acuity between high myopia eyes and fellow eyes of high myopia with RD,but had significant difference with other two groups. No statistical difference of average light sensitivity and four quadrants light sensitivity were found between high myopia eyes with fellow eyes of high myopia with RD or low to moderate myopia with RD.The average absence points of visual field were 1.76±7.16 in high myopia eyes,0.50±2.58 in fellow eyes of high myopia with RD,0.88±4.16 in fellow eyes of low to moderate myopia with RD,and 0.04±0.38 in normal eyes. There was no significant difference in average absence points of visual field between high myopia eyes and fellow eyes of high or low to moderate myopia with RD(P0.05),but had statistical difference with normal eyes(P0.05).There was significant difference in superonasal quadrant between normal eyes with each other three groups, but no difference among other three groups. Conclusions There is severe damage of central retinal sensitivity in eyes with high myopia as same as the eyes with high risk of RD,which has significant functional differences with normal eyes. The mechanisms of degenerative retinopathy correlates with the descending of retinal light sensitivity,so the examination of fundus retinal structure and functional activity can help to find pre-clinical symptoms of retinal macular degeneration.
