Abstract

Purpose: In this research, we investigated the role of defibrase in reperfusion after rats focal cerebral ischemia, including the mechanism of defibrase. Methods: Renovascular hypertensive rats were chosen for reperfusion model after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) by Longas. The infarct volume and the ultrastructure of cerebral microvessels were observed. The effects of defibrase were also studied. Results: In defibrase groups, the infarct volumes were smaller than the control groups after reperfusion for 1?d, 3?d, 7?d. The damages of microvessels were also smaller. Conclusion: Defibrase could prevent brain tissues from reperfusion injury after ischemia, and reduced the infarct volume through ameliorating microvessels.
