Abstract
Objective To explore influence of homemade defibrase on cerebral infarct volume and behavior after focal ischemia and reperfusion in rats and to confirm its cerebral protection. Methods Animal model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion were made by thread. Zea Longa method was used to evaluate behavioral change and TTC staining was applied to show cerebral infarction. Results Zea Longa evaluation showed no difference between the groups treated with homemade defibrase and the control groups except in the group of 6h reperfusion following 6h cerebral ischemia. In that group,Zea Longa scores in treated animals were lower than those in control(P0.05). Cerebral infarct volume in treated groups that underwent ischemia for 3h,6h and 24h were decreased(P0.05,P0.01 and P0.001,respectively) except the group underwent ischemia for 3h and reperfusion for 72h. Conclusion homemade defibrase may have neuroprotective effect on cerebral ischemic damage induced by focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in rats.
