Phonetic System about Yunbu and Characteristics of Early Mandarin

Yunbu(韵补)is a book about rhyme,phonetic written by Wuyu(吳棫),we can examine the actual voice of it and study the history of the Song dynasty Phonetics through the induction about its Fanqie(反切) and rhyme.According to our research,the relationship between Yunbu's phonetic system and Song Dynasty Phonetics is closely,it can reflect some phonetic problems at that time more objectively,form a chain with other materials which they can demonstrate each other,so it is the valuable data to study the history of modern Chinese phonetics.The phenomenon is very abundant,and some are other materials can't be matched.for example,the rhyme group about Zisi(资思韻),the labial sound of Wen(文),Yuan(元) and Fan(凡) becoming broad,these phenomenon are difficult to be demonstrated by ancient rhyme in poem and prose.The phonetic system about Yunbu is reflected the characteristics of early mandarin,both standard voice development law and personal area accent can be found among these.In this paper,we made a comprehensive study and conjunction about Yunbu's Fanqie sounds and rhyme schemes,and summarized its rhyme group,explained some of its phonetic characteristics and the relationship about the history of the Song dynasty Phonetics.
