Abstract
Three Gorges Project is the backbone project for the Yangtze river basin development and harnessing.After completion of TGP,the flood control situation of the middle and lower Yangtze river,especially the Jingjiang reach,will be improved radically.But for wide scope of the Yangtze river flood,with high peak and large volume,the flood control situation in partial areas is still severe.In addition,the impoundment of the reservoir and the release of clear water will cause the silting and scouring variation,result in changes of storage and discharge relation and river-lake relation,and influence the flood control situation.According to the research achievements at present,the preliminary research on the flood control situation in middle and lower area of the Yangtze river after TGP completion and countermeasures is carried out.
