Abstract

Objective To explore the timing and technique of GDC embolization of intracranial aneurysms. Methods After performing complete cerebral angiography, 66 aneurysms were treated by GDC via endovascular approach,of which 57 via the femoral arteries and 9 via the carotid arteries. Results The number of total occlusion of aneurysms was 50;subtotal occlusion was 15 and failure was 1. Of the 15 cases were performed cerebral angiography again after embolzation half a year 14 showed no contrast medium filling the aneurysm lumens and 1 showed the remnant lumen of aneurysm and larger than before and performed the second GDC embolization was. Conclusions GDC embolization of intracranial aneurysms is an effective technique and provides an important method for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
