Abstract

Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is the first metabolic key enzyme of polyamine metabolism, and the activity of ODC represent biochemical markers of malignancy in glioma. The induction of ODC-gene is closely associated with tumor cell proliferation and invasion, so the ODC-gene has characteristics of oncogenes. Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO), a specific inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase and the antizyme (AZ)which targets ODC might have potential therapeutical effect for human glioma.
