SURVEY ON THE NUTRITION AND HEALTH STATUS OF RESIDENTS IN PUTUO DISTRICT OF SHANGHAI IN 2007

Abstract
[Objective] To investigate dietary patterns, nutritional status and nutrition-related diseases of residents in Putuo district, so as to provide related policy for guiding the people’s healthy dietary. [Methods] A stratified multi-stage cluster random household sampling survey was performed, including questionnaire, dietary survey and so on. [Results] The daily consumption of meat and aquatic products of residents in Putuo was increased, and was 213.96g. The daily consumptions of beans and eggs were 65.44g and 42.68g, respectively, which had attended the recommend daily intake (RDI) . The daily intakes of cereals, milk and vegetable were 265.06g, 112.62g and 270.35 g, which was lower than the recommend daily intake (RDI) . The average intakes of energy and carbohydrate per reference man per day were not enough. The average intakes of protein, fat, iron, vitamin E and niacin had reached to the RDI, but the intakes of calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C were still low. The distribution of energy source was reasonable. The high quality protein accounted for 57.05% of all protein intake. The incidences of hypertension, diabetes and dyslipoproteinemia were 25.76%, 6.87% and 9.91%, respectively. [Conclusion] The nutritional status of residents in Putuo district was greatly improved, but the intakes of some basic nutrients were still low. Nutrition-related chronic may be an important public health problem.
