Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between pathological appearance and clinical diagnosis and treatment of submaxillary sublingual gland cyst. Methods Seventy-nine cases of submaixillary sublingual gland cyst were stained with hematoxyin and eosin(HE) and periodic acid-Schiff(PAS) methods and compared with their clinical characteristics. Results Inflammation was the main factor which formed submaxillary sublingual gland cyst. The cyst wall with myxopoiesis ability located in the parenchyma of the sublingual gland. Conclusion Submaxillary sublingual gland cyst should be treated with anti-infectious drugs before operation. The incision is mainly in the floor of mouth. The salivary gland should be completely removed to prevent post-operation recurrence.
