Abstract
This article investigates the inscription of the real estate of Cuifeng temple in the Yuan dynasty excavated in Xing cheng county in Liaoning province.And it demonstrates Buddhism and society in Xing cheng county and Jue hua island in Liao yang province during the earlier period of the Yuan.Xing cheng county and Jue hua island were located in a remote district belonging to northeast Yuan empire.However,Chan monks'organization still carried out religious activities there.Meanwhile,they bought a real estate through local government,and concluded a contract.They ran it and erected an inscription-the Real Estate of Cuifeng Temple-to confirm and consolidate its ownership.This showed Rural Chan idea.Also,it was an example of temple economy and real estate transaction in the Yuan dynasty.According to Baizhang Monastic rules determined by imperial order,the article studied monks' position recorded by this inscription.This was favourable to understanding Chan temple institution and the operation of Chan temple located in relevantly marginal zone in the Yuan.
