Abstract
The temple estate of Mountain Heng of Nan Yue came into being during the Southern and Northern Dynasties with the following four sources: land purchase of by the monks in temples,land given or allocated by the government,contributions of famous officials and believers,occupation of folk and by force or cultivation of the monks.Since its formation,the estate of the Mountain Heng temple experienced a long term of development with occupation of sixteen percent of the total cultivated land of the territory of Hengshan County at the turn of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
