Abstract

Objective:To investigate the cause of complications occurred after the Mesh Plug tension-free inguinal hernioplasty and the measures of prevention and treatment of these complications.Method:A retrospective analysis was made in 217 patients receiving Mesh Plug tension-free hernioplasty from 2000 to 2005 in our hospital.Results:38[thirty-eight(17.5%)]cases occurred various complications.Of them, persistent postoperative local pain happened in 9 cases, hydrocele of scrotum or incisional hypodermia in 6 cases, liquefaction of subcutaneous tissue in 2 cases, swell or atrophy of ipslateral testis in 3 cases, local hard mass with foreign body sensation or local bulge in 16 cases, and sinus tract formed in 2 cases. All the cases were cured to leave hospital. Conclusion:The Mesh Plug tension-free inguinal hernioplasty is safe and efficient, the key to reduce the operation complications lies on the familiarity of the groin's anatomy, skilled surgical technique, stricted asepsis principles and careful perioperative management.
