Expression of Id- 1 and p53 in the Process of Carcinogenesis of Cervical Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To explore the significance and relationship of Id- 1 and p53 in development and progress of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The tissues for detecting expression of Id- 1 and p53 proteins came from 34 patients suffered CIN( including CIN I 4 cases,CIN II 14 cases,CIN III 16 cases),64 patients with SCC( SCC group) and 30 cases of normal cervical epithelia( control group) and the expression were examined by immunohistochemical staining( SP). The relationship between the expression outcomes of Id- 1 and the clinical pathological characteristics of cervical cancer,and the expression outcomes of p53 were analyzed. Results The positive rate for Id- 1 expression in the control group,the CIN I group,the CIN II group,the CIN III group and the SCC group was 0%,25. 00%,50. 00%,56. 25% and 73. 44%,respectively and the positive rate for p53 expression was 0%,25. 0 %,57. 14%,68. 75% and 71. 87%,respectively. The expressions of Id- 1 and p53 in the SCC group and the CIN groups were significantly higher than those in the control group( P 0. 05). Id- 1 expression was positively correlated with p53 expression in the process of carcinogenesis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma( rs= 0. 631,P 0. 01). Conclusion With the development and progress of cervical squamous cell carcinoma,Id- 1 and p53 expression gradually increased,indicating that the two factors were jointly participated in the pathogenesis and development of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Detection of Id- 1 combined with p53 might be extremely helpful for the diagnosis of CIN and cervical SCC.
