Abstract
Objective: To examine the expression of Twist and p53 in cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia(CIN) and cervical invasive squamous cell carcinoma(SCC),and to explore the significance of their expression in the carcinogenesis of cervix. Methods: Twist and p53 expression in samples from 85 patients with CIN(including CIN Ⅰ group,CIN Ⅱ group,CIN Ⅲ group),40 patients with cervical invasive SCC(SCC group) and 26 cases of normal cervical epithelia(control group) were examined by home-made tissue chip and immunohistochemical staining(SP).Results: The positive rate for Twist expression in the control group, the CIN I group, the CIN Ⅱ group, the CIN Ⅲ group and the SCC group was 0,10.0%,42.3%,48.3% and 53.5%,respectively;for p53 expression was 0,10.0%,46.2%,51.7% and 52.5%,respectively.The expressions of Twist and p53 in the SCC group and the CIN groups were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.05).Twist expression was positively correlated with p53 expression in the SCC group(r=0.683,P0.05).Conclusion: Overexpression of Twist and p53 may play an important role in the carcinogenesis of cervix development, and the detection of Twist combined with p53 may be helpful for the diagnosis of CIN and cervical SCC.
