Abstract

Objective: To investigate and analyse the efficiency of omeprazole and famotide on the prevention of stress ulcer upper gastrointestinal bleeding followed apoplexy through a randomized clinical trial. Methods: Eighty one patients have been randomly divided into two groups, with forty three in the omeprazole group and thirty eight in the famotide group. In omeprazole group, they were given intravenous omeprazole 40mg added5% glucose of 0.9 sodium chloride 100ml daily,30~60 minutes for each injection, for ten days;in famotide group, the were given intravenous famotide 40mg added5%glucose or 0.9% sodium chloride 500ml daily,24 hours for each injection, for ten days. Results: In the two groups mentioned above, the rate of bleeding is 16.2%and 5.5% respectively, which shows no statistical significant differences in the two group(P0.05).Conclusion The efficiency on the prevention of stress ulcer upper gastrointestinal bleeding followed apoplexy is similar in the two groups.
