Abstract

In this paper, a fine performance vinyl acetate-acrylate emulsion adhesive for paper-plastic laminating was prepared by seeding pre-emulsion polymerization using vinyl acetate (VAc), butyl acrylate(BA) and 2-ethylheyl acrylate(2-EHA) as the main components, acrylic acid(AA) as the functional monomer. The effects of monomer selecting, ratio of hard and soft monomers, contents of emulsifier and functional monomer on emulsion properties were inverstigated. The results showed that when the weigh ratio of hard and soft monomers was 45∶ 50~ 50∶ 45, the amounts of emulsifier and function monomer were 3% and 6% by weight of total monomers, respectively, the obtained emulsion showed good comprehensive properties for paper-plastic adhesive.
