Abstract

Objective To investigate the metabolic change and clinical manifestation in elder patients with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). Methods The clinical manifestation and biochemistry index of a group of 30 patients over 50 were compared with those of people with T2DM and normal individual (NGT) in same age. Results The incidence of hypertension and CVD in IGT group was significantly higher than that in NGT group, but lower than that of DM group. The IGT group showed no significant difference of CHD incidence compared with group NGT and DM. The TG and UAER were significant higher in group IGT than NGT but lower than group DM,which has significant difference (p0.01). Conclusion The elder IGT patients had carbohydrate metabolism and lipid metabolisic disorder, also had higher risk of cardiovascular disease and nephropathy than in normal group.
