Abstract
Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of platelet aggregation in acute massive cerebral infarction and the risk factors for the disorder.Methods We measured the maximum rate of ADP-or arachidonic acidinduced platelet aggregation using turbidimetry in 38 patients who had been hospitalized from October 2007 to June 2009. Results The rate did not differ significantly at day 2 and weeks 1,2,and 3 of admission (P0.05);however,it was markedly higher at day 2 in the group with massive infarction than in the group with smaller infarction or the control group (P0.05).More elderly or female patients or more patients with hypertension,diabetes,or hyperlipidemia were found in the group with massive infarction than in the group with smaller infarction (P0.05).Conclusion Platelet aggregation elevates significantly in patients with acute massive cerebral infarction and lasts more than three weeks.The overactivation of platelet may play an important role in the occurrence of infarction.
