Abstract
During the 18th ~19th centuries,in order to more effectively govern Xinjiang,Qing government implemented the immigration policy on purpose.The resettlement and land reclamation in Xinjiang carried out by Qing government is the continuing and extension of the borderland policy for thousands of years by the central government of China.This policy not only stabilized the governance of Qing Dynasty but also ensured the safety of the northwest China.The resettlement and solidifying policy adjusted the population distribution and economic setup of the northern and southern borderlands,which also promoted the forming of the main nationalities in Xinjiang.
