Abstract

Objective To evaluate tension - free vaginal tape (TVT) for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Methods Tension - free vaginal tape was applied for 21 women with stress incontinence. Results of the operation, operative time and bleeding, as well as residual urine were observed. Results All of the patients achieved normal voiding without complications postoperatively till 2-18 months follow up. Mean operative time was 56 min and mean bleeding was 78 ml. The residual urine measured postoperatively was less than 50 ml.Conclusions TVT is a simple, safe and effective operation associated with few minor complications, short operative time and little bleeding. TVT is suitable for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence.
