Abstract
Objective To study the effectiveness of tension free vaginal tape(TVT) for surgical treatment of female stress urinary incontinence.Methods A prolene TVT around mid-urethra was implanted via vaginal incision in 42 cases with stress incontinence.The clinical results were analyzed.Results Mean operation time was 30minutes(range 25-55min)with mean blood loss 50ml(range 20-100ml).Mean postoperative hospital stay was 1.5days(range 1-4days). Mean follow-up was 8 months(range 3-26months),81.3% of the patients with stress urinary incontinence were cured,and another 18.7% significantly improved.Conclusion The TVT procedure is simple,safe and effective for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence with minimal injury.
