Abstract

A Brief Record of Governing Huimin County was the administration record by Liu Tang,a Huimin County Magistrate of Shandong province during the reign of Guangxu(1875~1908)of the Qing Dynasty.This book gave full expression to Liu Tang’s thought and practice about rural governance,the regional characteristics of rural governance,the historical orbit of rural governance by the county magistrate in the late Qing Dynasty and the general features of traditional rural governance by county magistrates.Liu Tang’s modern thought and practice related to rural governance was not only earlier than the New Deal in late Qing Dynasty,but also offered historical enlightenment for the rural construction today.
