The Success and Failure from Actions of National Great Unification in Border Area in the Early Qing Dynasty——the Example of the Rural Management from the two County Magistrates Whose Surnames Are Yu and LAN

Abstract

In traditional border society of China,the realization of the political ideal of National Great Unification finally embodies the efficient management for rural society which is wide and dispersed from County Magistrate and the National Identity from the base people.In the Early Qing Dynasty,Yu Cheng-long and Lan Ding-yuan were both County Magistrates and they both did very well in rural management in Continental Border or Sea Border respectively.Although the success or failure from them was not accidental,all this adequately showed the success and failure during the practical process of National Great Unification in border area in early Qing Dynasty.Compared with government by people,the rural management from the two County Magistrates has historical limitation.At the same time,the rural management from the two County Magistrates also inspire to modern new countryside construction.
