A Tentative Analysis of Existing Problems in the Teaching of English Extensive Reading and Its Countermeasures in Vocational Colleges

English Extensive Reading is an important professional course for students majoring in Business English in higher vocational colleges. Reading ability is the basis for students to improve other English special abilities. The English majors in higher vocational colleges have a poor foundation in English, and their learning is not active, which asks more English teachers to carry out teaching reform. The reform focuses on competency-based teaching idea, with the purpose to improve students’ reading ability, which will lay a good foundation for the students to learn English.
