Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of C-reactive protein( CRP) and unstable angina pectoris and its clinical significance. Methods 67 unstable angina patients and 40 control patients were hospitalized, followed by the early morning fasting blood collection for measuing serum CRP concentrations, the incidence rate of major cardiovascular events within 30 d after the hospitalization was observed in unstable angina patients. Results Before the treatment, the CRP level in unstable angina patients was ( 18.26 ±3. 61) mg/L compared to( 4. 05 ± 1. 13) mg/L in control group,in the statistically significant manner( P 0. 05) ; after the treatment, the CRP level decreased significantly in unstable angina patients, differing insignificantly from that in control group( P 0. 05) . The incidence rates of the major cardiovascular events were 21. 04% in unstable angina patients and 44. 83% in CRP-elevated patients, with the statistically significant difference( P 0. 05) . Conclusion The incidence of unstable angina is associated with acute inflammation and CRP is also associated with the short-term prognosis in patients with unstable angina.
