Abstract
The effects of UV-B radiation on the growth, physiological and biochemical characteristics including soluble protein content, Chl-a content, H2O2 content, MDA content and SOD activity of Ulva pertusa Kjellman were studied by experimental ecology and biochemical methods. The results demonstrated that UV-B radiation could inhibit the growth of Ulva pertusa Kjellman, and the effects on the physiological and biochemical characteristics were obvious. The soluble protein content decreased in early phase and increased in latter phase, while Chl-a content showed decreasing trend under UV-B radiation treatment. In addition, H2O2 content, MDA content and SOD activity showed increasing trend.
