Abstract

The effects of UV-B radiation on the growths,physiological and biochemical characteristics including chlorophyll content,soluble protein content and SOD activity of Dunaliella salina and Chaetoceros minutissimus are investigated using experimental ecology and biochemical methods.The results show that:(1) UV-B radiation can stimulate the growth of C.minutissimus,however,the high-dose of UV-B radiation can inhibit the growth of D.salina.(2) Two microalgal species exposed to UV-B radiation have low content of chlorophyll.The chlorophyll content of D.salina decreases first and then increases,for C.minutissimus,it shows an decreasing trend with increasing dose of UV-B radiation.(3) Two species of marine microalges have low content of soluble protein,whereas SOD activity suggests an increasing trend under UV-B radiation.
