Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer(EMMPRIN) and matrix metalloproteinase-2 in human laryngeal carcinoma, and to study its relationship with the invasion and the metastasis. Methods The expression of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 was detected by immunohistochemical S-P in 47 specimens from laryngeal carcinoma and 22 specimens from normal laryngeal. Results The positive expression rates of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 were significantly higher in laryngeal carcinoma than in normal laryngeal tissues(87.2% vs.9.1%,91.5% vs.18.2%).The strong expression rates of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 had a positive relationship with histopathological grade, clinical stage and the situation of lymph nodes matastases.Significant correlation was found between the expression of EMMPRIN and MMP-2.Conclusion The expression of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 relates to the clinical stage and lymph nodes matastases of laryngeal carcinoma.Increased MMP-2 might be induced by EMMPRIN expressed in laryngeal tumor cells.
