Abstract
The biology and information is considered to be the main character of 21 century. The main direction of study in genomics has been transferred from the structural genomics to the functional genomics which focuses on elucidating the function of genes. In the functional genomics era, the study of gene function will also transfer from single genes to studying all genes. This article summariyed the concept and other related subject, and reviewed the content and research methods of the functional genomics, including gene expression profile, genomic diversity, model organism, genomic corporation and evolution studied by differential display reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(DDRT-PCR), serial analysis of gene expression(SAGE), microarrays, proteomics bioinformatics, and so on.
