Relationship between the Clinicopathological Characteristics and the Expression of MMP-9 in Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the clinicopathological characteristics and the expression of MMP-9 in renal cell carcinoma.Methods:The expression of MMP-9 were detected by the immunohistochemical method in 73 cases of renal cell carcinoma and 18 cases of normal renal tissue.Results:The positive rate of MMP-9 in normal renal spicemens and renal cell carcinoma was 22.2% and 67.1%.The result was significantly different between two groups(P0.01).The expression of MMP-9 correlated with histological grade,stage and lymph node metastasis in the renal cell carcinoma tissues(P0.05).No correlation was found between the expression of MMP-9 and other clinical factor such as patient's sex,age,the size of tumor and pathological type(P0.05).Conclusion:The positive expression of MMP-9 plays an important role in the procedure of invasion and metastasis of renal cell carcinoma.
