Abstract
Objective To explore the aggressive growth characteristics in peripheral parts and central parts of keloid by analysing the insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I)and the insulin-like growth factor-I receptor(IGF-IR)index.Methods Fibroblasts of 8 keloids cases and 4 normal skin cases were investigated by immunohistochemical analysis of IGF-I and IGF-IR.IGF-I and IGF-IR index of difference parts in keloids and normal skin were compared. Results These were no positive fibroblasts in normal skin samples. The IGF-I and IGF-IR index of peripheral parts of keloids are higher than those of central parts, and there is significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion The difference in distribution of IGF-I and IGF-IR index may be responsible for the aggressive growth of keloid.
