Abstrcat The paper illustrates the differences and similarities between Chinese and English in terms of the symbolic meanings of color words in the fields of traditional culture, vocation, economy and politics. The different historical and cultural background and different religious beliefs between the two nations are responsible for the differences and similarities between Chinese and English in terms of the symbolic meanings of color words. Because of the traditional infiltration and the convergence of human languages to understand the similarities and differences in terms of the symbolic meanings of the color words of both Chinese and English can enable us to deeply understand both Chinese and English culture, grasp the essence of the two languages and enhance the ability to use both Chinese and English.
