The Cultural Similarities and Differences of the Color Word "Red" between Chinese and English Languages

Colour,the important field of human beings understanding the world,has rich cultural connotations.The understandings of and feelings to color words between Chinese and English people are much alike,but the associations,symbols and implied meanings of color terms to the different nations are different because of their different customs,environments,ways of thinking,religious beliefs and psychology.Therefore,it is of practical significance to know the differences between English and Chinese color words and their extended meanings so as to promote Chinese-English cultural communication.
