Efficacy of amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium in treating lower respiratory tract infection

Aim To study the therapeutical efficacy of amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium injection in treating lower respiratory tract infection by comparing with the efficacy of cefotaxime sodium injection.Methods A total of 70 patients were randomly divided into two groups:35 patients in the treatment group received amoxicillin/ clavulanate potassium injection 1.8g bid;30 patients as the control group received cefotaxime sodium injection 4g bid,both for 7~14 days.Result Effective rate of the treatment group was 91.4%,and that of the control group was 91.4%.There was no statistically significant difference(P0.05).Side-effective rate was 8.5% and 5.7% respectively.[WTHZ]Conclusion Amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium has a good therapeutical effect in treating lower respiratory tract infection with safety.
