Analysis of relationship between plasma homocysteine (Hcy) and coronary artery with stenosis

Objective:To study the association among plasma homocysteine (Hcy),the kinds of coronary heart diseases and the number of coronary artery with stenosis.Methods:Plasma Hcy was measured in 65 patients who underwent coronary angiography and defined as having coronary heart disease (CHD).In this group,there were 34 myocardial infarction patients,31 non-myocardial infarction patients,27 less than 60-year-old patients,38 more than 60-year-old patients.CHD cases were divided into single vessel (n=23),double-vessel (n=26),triple-vessel group (n=16).Results:The plasma Hcy level between more than 60-year-old patients and less than 60-year-old patients showed no significant difference.The plasma Hcy level in the group of triple-vessel and double-vessel are higher than that in the group of single-vessel (P0.05),but the plasma Hcy level in the group of double-vessel and triple-vessel group showed no significant difference (P0.05).Conclusions:The plasma Hcy level has no relationship with the kinds of CHD and age but has relation with the number of coronary artery with stenosis.
