Abstract

Metaphor and metonymy are two traditional rhetorical devices and important cognitive styles.From the perspective of cognitive linguistics,this paper analyzes the perfect structural symmetry of the two devices,including the simile metonymy,the metaphor metonymy,the figurative metonymy and the symbolic metonymy,etc.The purpose is to get a new understanding of the structural symmetry of metaphor and metonymy.
