Transurethral resection in the treatment of ureterocele(18 cases report)

Objective To evaluate the minimally invasive surgical treatment of ureterocele and its clinical efficacy. Methods 18 cases of ureterocele underwent ultrasonography and IVU,the results showed that were 12 cases had unilateral ureterocele and 6 bilateral;16 had orthotopic ureterocele and 2 of ectopic ureterocele.Transurethral resection was performed in patients after diagnosis. Results Of the 18 cases,17 obtained successful results by the first time surgery.The mean operative time were from 15 to 30 minutes,hospital stay were from 4 to 7 days.18 patients were followed up for 3 years with regular ultrasonography,cystography and IVU.One patient was found to have vesicoureteral reflux after operation,underwent open surgery and made recovery. Conclusion Transurethral resection is the safe,effective,minimally invasive method for treatment of ureterocele.
