Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of transurethral endoscopic management of 20 case of intravesical ureterocele in the adult. Methods Clinical data 20 case of intravesical ureterocele treated by endoscopy from 1995 to 2005 were analyzed retrospectively. Results The diagnosis of all case were confirmed by ultrasonography, IVU and cystoscopy preoperatively. Transurethral incision of ureterocele was undertaken in 12 cases, and Transurethral unroofing in the others 8 cases. Three patients were noted having vesicoureteral reflux after endoscopic operation and two patients received excision of the ureterocele with reimplantation of ureter. Total resection of the upper renal segment and ureter was performed in a case after endoscopic management. Conclusions Transurethral endoscopic management of iutravesical ureterocele is simple and effective with minimal trauma. Endoacopic management is limited in case with large ureterocele, severe hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux.
