Transurethral endoscopic treatment of ureterocele in adults (report of 10 cases)

Objective To evaluate transurethral endoscopic treatment of 10 cases of ureterocele and its efficacy in adult patients.(Methods) The clinical data of 10 cases(2 men and 8 women; patients range in age from 29 to 60 years old,with a mean of 43.8 years old) of ureterocele who underwent transurethral resection of ureterocele(TURU) were reviewed and analyzed between May 2002 and May 2006.The diagnosis of all the cases was established on ultrasonography,IVU and cystoscopy before operation of the 10 cases,7 had unilateral ureterocele and 3,bilateral.Results All the patients obtained successful results in one-stage surgery.The mean operative time was 13 minutes.Follow-up ranged from 6-48 months with regular B-ultrasonography and hydronephrosis abated.Conclusion Transurethral resection of ureterocele(TURU) is a simple and effective procedure for the treatment of ureterocele in adults.
