Abstract

A kinetic spectrophotometric method for determination of trace iron(Ⅲ) was established. It was based on the discoloring reaction of hydrogen peroxide(H\-2O\-2) with reduced methylene blue catalyzed by Fe(Ⅲ) in the presence of HAc\|NaAc solution with phen as an activation. The limit of detection is 4.6×10 -9 g/mL.The linear range of determination in the range of is 0_0.6μg/25mL.The optimum reaction conditions and the kinetic parameters were determined. The method has been applied to the determination of iron in water samples with satisfactory results.
