Expression of Survivin and VEGF in Carcinoma of Prostate and Their Correlation

Objective To study Survivin expression and its relation with expression of VEGF in carcinoma of prostate. Methods Expression of Survivin and VEGF was detected by SP immunostaning technique in 59 cases of carcinoma of prostate and 22 cases of normal prostate specimens,and the correlation between Survivin and VEGF was analyzed.Results In 59 cases of carcinoma of prostate,the positive rate of urvivin protein was 67.79%,but none positive expression of Survivin protein was detected in 22 cases of normal prostate specimens.Expression of Survivin protein was detected in a significantly greater proportion in carcinoma of prostate than normal prostate specimens.There was relationship between Survivin protein expression and pathological type.Expresson of VEGF was positively correlated with expression of Survivin protein. Conclusion The expression of Survivin is closely related to the initiation and proliferation of carcinoma of prostate. The detection of Survivin may contribute to the diagnosis of carcinoma of prostate.Expresson of VEGF was positively correlated with expression of Survivin expresson in carcinoma of prostate.
