Abstract

As China's music education adopted a western model in the past taking western music as the center of interest her music products education perfomances and even people's sense of hearing and value on history inevitably register a western touch. Nowadays with multi-cultural music education becoming a mainstream how to develop China's national music education in the global context has become an issue that begs consideration. From the perspective of knowledge renewal this paper examines the present music education in China and stresses the need for a shift of interest from western-music teaching that emphasizes technique training to multi-cultural music education that develops students' cultural understanding.
