Abstract

This paper brings to light that the three basic functions colleges and universities have—developing qualified personnel,adˉvancing science and technology and serving society—are facing all sorts of challenges under the condition of further opening to the outside world.It also expounds how to further improve and extend the functions of colleges and universities in the new situation to maintain the tremendous motive force of colleges and universities to further social progress and economic development.
