Comparison of three different kinds of internal fixations for treatment of intertrochanteric fractures

Objective:To analyze the clinical effect of three different kinds of internal fixations in treatment of the femoral intertrochanteric fracture.Methods:The clinical data of 80 patients with the femoral intertrochanteric fracture having been treated with the procedure of locking compression plate(LCP),dynamic hip screw(DHS),or proximal femoral nail(PFN) were analyzed retrospectively.The mean operation time,cut length,blood loss,healing time,incidence of the complication and rate of excellent and good results of the three groups were compared and analyzed.Results:There were statistical differences in the mean operation time,cut length,blood loss and healing time among the three groups(P0.01).The incidence of complications showed no statistical difference among the three groups(P0.05).As to the rate of excellent and good results,LCP group were superior to DHS group,but the difference was not significant among the three groups(P0.05).Conclusions:All the three procedures are effective.However,LCP fixation takes less operation time,less healing time,causes less surgical trauma and demonstrates better recovery than the other two groups in treatment of the intertrochanteric fracture.
