Comparison of three kinds of internal fixation methods in the treatment for senile intertrochanteric fracture

Objective To compare the effects of surgical treatment with three kinds of internal fixation methods on senile intertrochanteric fracture.Methods The clinical data of 96 cases of senile intertrochanteric fracture admitted from March 2006 to October 2010 were reviewed retrospectively.Proximal femoral fixation with dynamic hip screw(group DHS)in 36 cases,distal femoral locking plate (group DF-LCP) in 28 cases and proximal femoral locking plate(group PF-LCP) in 32 cases.Perioperaive indexes of patients were statistically analyzed,including operative time,blood loss,healing time of fracture,the function evaluation and cemplications.Results The reduced operative time andblood loss were higher in DHS group,compared with other two groups,there was no significant difference in healing time of fracture and the function evaluation between the three groups.Group PF-LCP had fewer complications compared with the other groups.Conclusions The three internal pxation methods are all effective methods for senile intertrochanteric fracture,and PF-LCP is the best internal fixation method.It has advantages of shorter operative time,less blood loss,fewer complications and so on.
